Weihong Guo (pronounced as Way-Hung Gwo) received the Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics from the Department of Mathematics and the Master of Statistics, from the Department of Statistics , both at University of Florida and both in 2007. Right after graduation, she  joined the Mathematics Department of the University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) as a tenure track Assistant Professor and stayed for two years. Starting July 2009, she is with the Department of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics at Case Western Reserve University

Her research is in computational and applied mathematics with strong focusing on imaging science and their applications in biomedical and geoscience etc. Her long term research goals are to develop analytical and computational tools for data-driven applications. While pursuing these general objectives, in the past few years she has become particularly interested in image super resolution, compressive sensing reconstruction and image segmentation, all of which can be addressed as ill-posed inverse problems. A large portion of her research has been dedicated to developing rigorous mathematical/statistical models and addressing these problems using tools based on partial differential equations(PDE), calculus of variations, harmonic analysis, optimization and statistics. Her research has been supported by National Science Foundation and National Institute of Health.
