{"id":5,"date":"2017-08-29T14:09:38","date_gmt":"2017-08-29T18:09:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/casfaculty.case.edu\/nick-gurski\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2018-05-17T14:28:40","modified_gmt":"2018-05-17T18:28:40","slug":"cv","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/casfaculty.case.edu\/nick-gurski\/cv\/","title":{"rendered":"CV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I received my BS in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001, and my PhD in Mathematics from the University of Chicago in 2006. \u00a0I was an NSF Research Instructor at Yale University 2006-2009, and was a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield in the UK from 2009 until 2017. \u00a0In the fall of 2017, I joined Case Western Reserve University as an Assistant Professor. \u00a0I held an EPSRC Early Career Fellowship 2013-2016, and was a co-founder of the Yorkshire and Midlands Category Theory Seminar (YaMCATS) network with Simona Paoli and Nicola Gambino.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/artscimedia.case.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/216\/2017\/08\/17132718\/CV_2017.pdf\">Here is a link to a full CV.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>My research is in category theory, topology, and related areas of algebra and mathematical physics, with a particular emphasis on 2- and 3-dimensional theory. \u00a0I have had three PhD students graduate, and currently have one more working on their thesis.
