Applied Inverse Problems conference in Helsinki

The Applied Inverse Problems (AIP) 2015 was held in Helsinki, Finland in May.  I was invited to give a talk in a two-part mini symposium on "Inverse problems in atmospheric remote sensing", organized by Johanna Tamminen, Andreas Hilboll and Emily King.  This mini symposium had many interesting and stimulating...

IP publication one of highlights 2014

I am honored to announce that my publication with Tony O'Hagan "Learning about physical parameters: The importance of model discrepancy" has been selected for inclusion in the Inverse Problems 2014 Highlight Collection. The full Inverse Problems 2014 Highlight  Collection can be viewed here. Our paper can be found here.

OCO-2 Science Team Meeting

In February 2015 I attended the first Post-launch OCO-2 Science team meeting.  Data is flowing!

Publication in JABES

My paper "On Covariate Importance for Regression Models with Multivariate Response", written with Alan Gelfand, has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental Statistics (JABES). Link to the online version at Springer.

Colloquium talk

Today I gave a talk in my Department's colloquia. The title wasDimension Reduced Modeling of Spatio-Temporal processesThe slides are posted below.Abstract: The field of spatial and spatio-temporal statistics is increasingly faced with the challenge of very large datasets. The classical approach to spatial and spatio-temporal modeling is very computationally demanding...

Publication in Inverse Problems

My paper titled "Learning about physical parameters: the importance of model discrepancy", which I wrote with my postdoc mentor Tony O'Hagan, has been accepted for publication in the journal Inverse Problems.  The paper will appear in a special issue, "Bayesian methods in inverse problems" that will be published later...

IISA conference

I was invited to give a talk at the 2014 International Indian Statistical Association (IISA) Conference this summer.  I was a part of a very interesting session on "Spatial and Regression Models in Environmental Science" with Rajib Paul from Western Michigan University and Ephraim Hanks from Penn State.  My...

JPL launches the OCO-2 satellite

The last couple of weeks I have been visiting my collaborators at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). It has been a productive time and exciting.  The highlight of the visit was witnessing the launch of the Orbiting Carbon Observatory 2 (OCO-2) satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base.  Tensions were high as the...

Women in Stats Conference

I'm attending the inaugural Women in Statistics Conference "Know your Power" these days in Cary, North Carolina. Chaired a session about "How to make social medial work for you". Meeting and learning about women trail blazers in my profession and networking with some amazing women in Statistics.

Publication in JASA

My paper Dimension-Reduced Modeling of Spatio-Temporal Processes has been accepted for publication in the Journal of the American Statistical Association. The paper is written in collaboration with my PhD advisor Dr. L. Mark Berliner at The Ohio State University and is based on my PhD thesis work.
